About MedReminder
Origin
MedReminder answers one practical question in time: when does a prescription need to be renewed? It does so without an account, without uploading medicine data to a cloud service and without a subscription, because a medication list is personal.
Philosophy
Local-first, no lock-in. Your medicines stay on your PC. The app opens without a network, and works the same whether or not you have an internet connection. Data lives in files you can copy anywhere.
Technology
MedReminder is a Windows Forms application built on .NET 10. Storage is SQLite via EF Core 10. The automatic local backup is a plain copy of the database. Export files and cloud-folder snapshots (.mrz) are encrypted with a passphrase you choose (Argon2id and AES-GCM), deliberately not with Windows DPAPI, so they can be restored on another PC. DPAPI protects only secrets kept on this PC: the stored SMTP password, the saved backup passphrase and the OneDrive and Google Drive sign-in tokens. Sync data is encrypted with a group key protected by the sync passphrase (Argon2id). Email alerts use MailKit. The full stack is documented in the source repository.
Medical disclaimer
MedReminder is strictly an inventory and schedule tracking assistant. It does not automatically calculate, adjust, or suggest clinical dosage changes or medical therapy variations. All dosage modifications must be prescribed by a qualified healthcare professional.
