Features
Prescription reminder
Warns you when stock will run out, with a configurable lead time in days, and once more at half of it if no new package was added. Therapy → Plan supply… shows, for a trip or until the next pharmacy visit, what each medicine needs, what is missing and how many packages to get; the figures are estimates. Runs quietly in the notification area, can start with Windows, and checks again on demand with Check now.
Stock tracking
Records every package opened, dose change and correction, with full movement history. A medicine can be paused for a period, and the run-out estimate takes the pause into account. Count stock: enter the quantity you counted, see the difference from the expected stock and the run-out date before and after, and the app records one correction. A medicine entered by mistake can be deleted while nothing was recorded for it; inactive medicines are hidden and can be shown again. The stock goes down at the administration times, and as-needed medicines are never consumed automatically.
Package expiry
Each box can carry its printed expiry and opening date; the use-until date accounts for the days after opening. The list shows the first expiry, Stock → Expiring packages… gathers expired and expiring boxes, and a notice comes 30 days before (configurable) and the day after expiry. A discarded box is removed from the stock.
Flexible schedules
Weekly patterns, on/off cycles, tapering (linear or in steps) and as-needed medicines. The run-out estimate follows the schedule.
Dose-time reminder
A Windows notification at each scheduled dose time, and optionally an email. Click a notification to open the medicine: a dose reminder offers Remind me in 15 minutes, and a low-stock warning offers Prepare request. Intakes are not recorded from the notification.
Therapy timeline
A read-only view with one row per medicine over a period you can move: active periods, suspensions, dosage changes, taper stages, today and the estimated run-out date. Run-out dates are estimates for planning refills.
Your data stays local
Medicines are stored on your PC; they leave it only encrypted, when you turn on a cloud backup or sync. No account. The app works without an internet connection; the Privacy section lists the optional features that use the network.
Email alerts
Optional emails when stock is low and, if enabled per medicine, at dose times, sent through the SMTP server you configure. An optional caregiver address per profile receives a copy of the reminders you choose (all of them by default) and, if you want, a weekly stock summary with nothing about the doses taken. In a shared installation only the master PC sends the emails, so each one arrives once; the other PCs show reminders on screen.
Multiple profiles
One installation manages several people, each with their own data. Administrator and user roles; the PIN is optional.
Backup and restore on another PC
Daily local backup of every profile. Optionally, an encrypted snapshot in a folder that your own cloud app synchronizes (OneDrive, Google Drive, Dropbox, iCloud Drive), and Restore from cloud folder on a second PC. It is a daily backup; to keep several PCs up to date, use sync.
Sync between PCs and cloud backup
Several PCs can keep the same profile up to date: what you record on one appears on the others. The PCs exchange only encrypted changes through OneDrive, Google Drive or a shared folder, protected by a sync passphrase. With a Microsoft or Google account, the backups can also go straight to OneDrive or Google Drive. MedReminder only uses the folders it creates, everything is encrypted on your PC before upload, and there is no MedReminder server. On top of sync, an administrator can share the whole installation (profiles, roles, PINs, email account, cloud backup policy, reference country) across PCs; each PC holds only the profiles it is given. Every PC must run the same MedReminder version.
Encrypted export and import
One passphrase-protected file with a profile's data, to move to a new PC or keep a personal copy. Works across Windows accounts; the file format is publicly documented.
For your doctor
A therapy report of your active medicines (active ingredient, dosage, therapy period, doctor), printed as a table on A4 or Letter or saved as PDF; notes are left out unless you include them. For a new prescription, MedReminder prepares an editable request with the medicine name, package and product code, which you copy, open in your mail program, or send with the configured email account after confirming. No dosage or clinical detail is included in the request, and nothing is sent without your action.
Prescriptions and deadlines
Therapy → Prescriptions… follows a prescription from the request to the pharmacy, with a reminder 3 days before it stops being valid. Therapy → Administrative deadlines… keeps dates such as the renewal of a therapeutic plan or an exemption, optionally recurring, with reminders. Therapy → Export to calendar… saves the coming dates as an .ics file; event titles are generic unless you include the names.
Languages and readability
Interface, Windows notifications and built-in user guide (F1) in English, Italian, French, Spanish and German. Each profile can choose a text size (Normal, Large, Extra large) and a light or dark appearance, or follow Windows; Windows scaling and high-contrast themes are respected.
Medicine catalogue
Built-in reference catalogue for Italy, EU, Spain and France for quick medicine look-up. For Italian medicines, links to the official package leaflet and summary of product characteristics. A USB barcode scanner, the webcam or the code typed by hand fills in the medicine; Italian packages (AIC code) are the reliable case, and no webcam image is saved or sent. Stock → Restock from barcode… opens the matching medicine ready for a new package. With automatic update checks on, the catalogue is checked at startup and once a day. With Italy as reference country, medicines on the AIFA shortage list are marked in the Supply column and give one notification; MedReminder names no substitute, so ask your doctor or pharmacist.
